Create “micro quotas” and “macro goals”

You will see this advice popup everywhere, and that is not a coincidence. There have been many scientific studies conducted on this topic and they all came to the conclusion that this method really works, “macro goals” is some big picture that you want to accomplish in the future, for example let is say that your “macro goal” is to write a book and get it published. And “micro quotas” are small individual steps you need to take every day in order to complete your long term goal, for example let us say that your “micro quota” is to write 1000 words per day. Step by step, day by day, you will finish your book.

Eliminate redundant options

Something that can stop you in your way to building good habits is just having to make a number of decisions throughout the day. You should not waste your energy on deciding what to eat or what to wear. For eating you can make a schedule and just stick to it.

Get rid of “ah screw it” moments

Big problem that come for many people is that they build their habits and after about two weeks say: Ah screw it! The key to eliminating those moments is to see what is making you quit in the first place, and trying to fix that, if it is a matter of will power you just have to remain to be strong.
